When you’re working through a challenge at home, it helps to speak with someone who has faced it too. The Community Leader Conference makes room for those conversations: sharing what we’ve tried, asking the questions we’re still working through and learning from communities across Asia.
You can arrive with a question, an experience to share or simply the wish to listen.

A NOTE FROM HAHN
It started around
the supper table.
I wanted more people to have access to the conversations that helped me.
Some of my biggest lessons as a community leader came over late-night suppers with mentors from around the world. We talked about everything: dance technique, teaching, running events and the everyday work of building a community.
I came away with ideas to try and people I could ask when I got stuck. As more WCS communities grow across Asia, I keep thinking about how we can make those conversations easier to access.
That’s why we created the Community Leader Conference. Whether you’re starting a community or have been running one for years, I hope you’ll find useful advice here—and someone you can keep learning with afterwards.
We each know things that could help someone else. I’d love for more of that knowledge to be shared across the region.

WHO SHOULD COME?
Who’s it for?
You don’t have to run a school or hold a title. If you help make dancing happen in your community, we’d love to have you in the room.
Community leaders, school owners and organisers
Building a new scene or supporting an established one.
Teachers and aspiring teachers
Helping dancers learn, progress and enjoy the dance.
DJs, hosts and music teams
Shaping the experience on the social floor.

You’re welcome to bring a question, share something you’ve tried, or listen and learn. You don’t need to arrive with the answers.
THE QUESTIONS WE’RE ASKING
What is your community working through?
We start planning each edition by asking what people are finding difficult in their own communities. These are some of the questions we want to work through together.
Keeping dancers involved
How do we welcome new dancers and help them want to return? How do we keep people involved when work, family or other responsibilities change?
Growing the team
How do we help someone become a good teacher, DJ or volunteer? And how do we share the work so it doesn’t always fall to the same few people?
Keeping a community going
How do we cover costs, run things well and keep the experience enjoyable? What makes sense for a small community may be different from a large one.
Bring what worked, what didn’t and what you’re still trying to understand. Someone else may be facing a similar question.
