MY SWING 2027

Your first MY Swing?
Start here.

Your first festival can feel like a lot of new faces, classes and choices at once. You can begin with one workshop, one dance or one conversation. Here’s what will help you arrive prepared and find your own way through the weekend.

Coming on your own?

You don’t need to bring a partner. Say hello to someone between classes, ask for a dance, or take a seat and watch for a while. There’s no rush to meet everyone, and you don’t have to be outgoing to enjoy being here.

How much WCS should I know?

You’ll get more out of the workshops and socials if you know some WCS basics. If you’ve never danced WCS, a local beginner course is the best place to start before coming to the festival.

When the 2027 programme is ready, we’ll explain who each level is for. If you’re unsure which options suit you, tell us what you’ve learned so far and we’ll help you work it out.

A little help with your first festival.

In past editions, our beginner programme helped dancers find their feet at a WCS event: understanding the weekend, finding their way around and becoming more comfortable at the socials.

It built on some WCS basics. If you’re starting from your very first steps, take a local beginner course before the festival.

The 2027 beginner programme is still to be confirmed. We’ll explain the format and who it suits when it is announced.

Choose how you take part.

You can spend the weekend learning, social dancing and watching the performances. If you want to try a competition too, we’ll publish the 2027 divisions and entry requirements when registration opens.

Competing is optional.

Start small. Find your rhythm.

Find your pace

Choose a class that suits where you are now. One useful idea can give you plenty to explore during the weekend.

Make room for breaks

Give yourself time for food, water and rest. A break can help you return ready to enjoy the next part of the day.

Start with one dance

When you feel ready, ask someone for a song. A yes begins a dance; a no is okay too. You have the same choice.
